Schiit Stack Review Update After 1.5 Years of Ownership

It’s time for a schiit stack review update.

I purchased three Schiit audio components in 2023, connected them to my computer, and enjoyed improved sound ever since. Back then I wrote an extensive review with diagrams and images to show viewers my setup to perhaps inspire them to do something similar.

As before, I do not have any relationship with Schiit. I am a customer who had a great first experience with their products.

Products needed for my audio upgrade, including computer, monitor, speakers, Schiit audio components, stands, cables, clips, etc.

Audio Products

Audio Quality

I am not an audiophile, so I assume my relatively low-cost Schiit products are not the apex of audio components.

With that said, I love the sound, especially with music. I hear elements of songs that I didn’t hear before, which is fantastic. But this stack also offers a higher level of volume without losing clarity. In my previous blog post, I mentioned that it would be a poor neighbor if I pushed this equipment to its limits, because it would be far too loud.

Build Quality

All three of the hardware products continue to perform as expected. They are sturdy in most cases, though a couple of the back ports wiggle slightly. However, that may be a feature of the construction, as opposed to a deficiency. They are small, but they’re just heavy enough to feel like quality manufacturing. I really like them.

Lighting

The only obvious negative at this point is the lighting, which is inconsistent from a design standpoint.

The Magni+ has no front light, the Loki Mini+ has a single bright light, and the Modi+ has three faint lights, one of which is slightly brighter to show its active state. The only way you know the Magni+ is on is if you look into it from the holes in the top of it and/or turn up the volume to ensure something is playing. But those are minor issues that are barely worth mentioning.

Final Thoughts

Yes, I’d buy these again in a heartbeat if I had to make the choices all over again.  I can’t imagine going back to computer audio without my Schiit stack.

If I started all over again with an entirely new setup, I would begin my search for components on the Schiit website before considering any other alternative manufacturer.
